DAMAGED EQUIPMENT

Reporting damaged equipment

We distribute electricity safely and effectively through our buried cables and associated Sub Stations to homes and businesses in many parts of the country. From time to time our equipment may become damaged due to third party excavations, traffic accidents or incidents, flooding, severe weather conditions or acts of vandalism. In any of these circumstances the equipment may become dangerous as it predominately operates at 11000 and 430 volts.

It will help us locate damaged equipment quickly and safely if you can call us on the emergency number Freephone: 0800 8048688 and where possible provide the location and the postcode of the equipment causing concern.

If you come across cables which are on or near the ground, please stay well away from them. Such cables may still be live and may be capable of conducting electricity through the ground or via metallic objects. If they are in roads or on footpaths, contact the emergency services on 999 and where possible, and safe to do so, help keep passers-by well away.

Please call us urgently if you see any of the following, and we'll make our equipment safe:

  • Damaged equipment or lines
  • Broken substation fences, damaged electricity pillars, manhole covers in the road or pavement which leave live equipment exposed
  • Electricity meters and associated equipment that is not secure or exposed to the weather.
  • Open excavations which are not adequately protected by barricades.

For all customers in all areas please contact us on Freephone: 0800 8048688
